The Science of Paint Preparation
The "Detail Lab" represents our highly technical approach to vehicle care. Before any protective layer is applied, the clear coat must be meticulously prepared. This process goes far beyond standard washing, focusing on the microscopic layer of contaminants bonded to the vehicle.
Lab Process: Decontamination
- Chemical Iron Removal: Applied to dissolve brake dust and industrial fallout embedded in the paint structure.
- Tar & Sap Solvents: Targeted application to safely break down sticky organic and synthetic residues.
- Mechanical Decontamination: The use of automotive clay to shear off remaining embedded particulates, leaving a smooth surface.
- Paint Review: Under dedicated inspection lighting, we evaluate the severity of swirls, wash marring, and oxidation.
Polishing Education & Options
Machine polishing may improve the appearance of the clear coat by levelling microscopic defects. However, we never promise a "perfect finish." The extent to which paint can be safely polished depends entirely on the vehicle's age, clear coat thickness, and existing condition.
We guide clients through the options, from a light enhancement polish designed to increase gloss, to more intensive multi-stage correction efforts where appropriate.
